K&N Typhoon High Performance Air Intake System

K&N LogoAfter asking around I got to the conclusion that K&N creates one of the best performance air filters. I got one for my car, the Typhoon 69-9751TB was the correct model for a 2001 VW Golf 4, this filter model also fits to many other vehicles from the product description but also from the many reviews I read about this air filter it will increase the engine power with about 10HP, the ones that used it say you can feel the difference, I just got it mine, it is not installed yet :)

What I can tell you so far is that the actual filter is the type that needs to be oiled before use, I understand this is for better filtration of dust. The filter comes ready to be used (oiled) and you will only need to oil it again when you clean it, after around 100 000 miles :)

In addition to the fact that this filter will increase engine power a bit this filter doesn’t need to be changed like regular air filters, this one can be washed cleaned. Another nice thing is that engine will sound different, you will hear it how it sucks air.

The filter is light, tube is made of light aluminum, this air filter tube will replace the old air filter box.

Update:

I installed the air filter, you can really feel the extra power :) the sound is also nice, it sounds like a new exhaust system, you can also hear it sucking air , something like “psst… psst …” :) Just like blow-off valve form turbo engines just not that loud.
When installing this I suggest that you leave a space between the filter aluminium tube and the throttle body, otherwise on vibrations the aluminium tube might touch the throttle body causing undesired sound.
